waha kōrero —

★ visual identity / creative direction  / publication design / print

The Waha Kōrero is the Ara bi-monthly student magazine. Each year a designer is selected to be a part of the team and in 2021, I had the pleasure to be the designer.
My role within the team was creative lead. I was responsible for crafting the visual representation of Ara. I wanted to bring a sense of the energy found around campus, within the different groups of people, the environment and the overall vibe. I was also influenced by the seasonal change that happens through the duration of the year while students study at Ara.
Each page layout needed to be easily adaptable so that each story could work differently within the space, depending on the word count and imagery. Along with designing each layout, I also had fun being able to create the stylistic approach to the illustrations.
